Independent season-by-season record · 1899—2026
Every competitive campaign since 1899, with league finishes, form, goals and cup runs — and every season graded S to F by where it stood in the English pyramid.
Eighteen months after lifting the FA Cup at Wembley, Portsmouth were insolvent. The spending that built the 2008 cup-winning squad left debts the club couldn't service once the money dried up, and between 2009 and 2013 Portsmouth suffered two spells in administration and three relegations — a fall from the Premier League to League Two, the fourth tier, in barely four seasons. What followed was a fan-led rescue and a decade-long climb all the way back to the Championship.
